Feisty Fido – Boost is a seasonal, outdoor reactive dog training program in SW Calgary, designed to help you and your dog navigate mild reactivity (reactions within 4 leash lengths) or social struggles. If your dog’s barking, growling, bullying, social awkwardness, or fear in public spaces is causing more detours than you’d like, then Feisty Fido – Boost is for you.

Your 3-hour (3x1 hour) journey begins with an exploration of why your dog is struggling, from their perspective. You’ll learn about canine social behaviours, "proxemics" (space bubbles), social rules and dynamics, trust, and the nuanced layers of signaling that dogs use to build cooperative, symmetrical relationships with both dogs and people. We’ll dive into how dogs communicate with each other and humans, and why it’s not just about getting your dog to "be okay" with close interactions, but rather about creating a dynamic process of mutually fulfilling, symmetrical relationships.

As you progress, you’ll apply your new insights with expert guidance and support in real-world settings—greenspaces, parks, and public spaces—while gaining practical tools and strategies to help your dog build confidence in social situations.

  • Feisty Fido – Boost is for dog owners whose dogs are struggling with mild reactivity or social challenges. This class is ideal for:

    • Graduates of Feisty Fido – Breakthrough or Feisty Fido – Core who are ready to take the next step in their training journey

    • Dogs with mild reactivity or social struggles who exhibit behaviours such as:

      • Barking, growling, or lunging at other dogs or people within 4 leash lengths

      • Fear-based reactions or social awkwardness with dogs and people in public spaces like parks or on walks

      • Bullying or otherwise “over-the-top” behaviour towards other dogs (whether specific or more generalized)

      • Difficulty staying calm during close-up interactions with dogs and/or people

    If this sounds like your dog and you are not dealing with severe reactivity or aggression, Feisty Fido – Boost will give you and your dog the boost you need in social situations and public contexts.

  • For puppies and adult dogs 5 months and older.

  • Classes are held outdoors at various public locations (parks, greenspaces, neighborhoods) in SW Calgary. All locations are within 10 km’s of city center. Students will receive location details via email, six days before the first class.

  • To attend classes, dogs must have up to date vaccinations or titres.

  • $199.50 + GST for the 3-hour program (3 × 1-hour classes)

  • Please note that all registrations are final. We are unable to offer make-up classes, pro-rate tuition for missed sessions, or accommodate class swaps. Thank you for your understanding.
