Therapy Tails Level 1 - Foundations

Class Details

Therapy Tails Level 1 – Foundations is a specialized training class in Calgary for dogs and handlers beginning their journey toward becoming a Therapy Dog, Service Dog, or Animal-Assisted Therapy team.

The course is led by Cat Harbord—who brings over 10 years of experience assessing Therapy Dogs for two of Calgary’s three certifying bodies, a background in Service Dog training and a passion for the human-canine relationship to this class!

In this 8-hour program (4x2-hour or 8x1-hour), we’ll guide you through a structured training process, ensuring you and your dog are on the right path from the very start. You’ll learn to work as a team with your dog as you build a strong foundation of obedience and manners, while also developing your dog’s emotional regulation, sensory-motor skills, social confidence, and emotional intelligence (EQ). These foundational skills are critical as you and your dog prepare for therapy and service work.

  • Classes are held indoors at the North Glenmore Park Community Association:

    2231 Longridge Drive SW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

  • To attend classes, dogs must have up to date vaccinations or titres.

  • $349 + GST for the 8-hour program (8 x 1 hour or 4 x 2 hour classes)

  • Please note that all registrations are final. We are unable to offer make-up classes, pro-rate tuition for missed sessions, or accommodate class swaps. Thank you for your understanding.
